Have you ever wanted to explore throwing bigger vessels and bowls? Now is your chance in this two hour intensive skills workshop. In this class we will learn the foundational skills to add weight to your throwing as well as many helpful tips and tricks for throwing large-scale work. It is recommended to have foundational throwing skills prior to taking this workshop, students should be comfortable centering 1-2 pounds of clay consistently and be looking to work toward throwing 4-10lbs of clay during this workshop. 

Along with other demos and hands on instruction, students will be practicing throwing 2-4lb vases and 6-10lb bowls. 

This class comes with ONE WEEK of open studio access to finish items thrown during the class. This allows students to practice their skills learned in class and trim their own work. 

Instructed by Rainy Bray

Rainy Bray-Hopwood (she/her/hers) is a potter, community organizer, and entrepreneur. Her work centers around exploring the art of ceramics and sharing the medium with her community as a teaching artist. Rainy was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and currently works and lives in Bentonville, Arkansas. Nestled in the ozark mountains, she draws inspiration from the natural world and rich cultural heritage present in the area. Through her pottery and as an art educator, she seeks to preserve the culture of Northwest Arkansas area and her own heritage as a member of the Choctaw nation.

All students must fill out a waiver to attend class. Waiver may be filled in advance HERE. 

*This workshop is open to ages 15+ 

*Wheel throwing experience is recommended, recommended to have take Wheel I or have six months of throwing experience. items will be ready for pick up two week after the workshop
