Practicum Membership is built for individuals with previous pottery experience to access space, resources, and instruction for building advanced skills.

Prerequisites: You must have completed at least three of our six-week classes to sign up for Practicum Membership. All members must fill out a waiver before utilizing the studio.

Session Details: Practicum Membership begins on the 1st of the month (membership begins on the 1st of the month after your purchase, memberships will auto renew the 1st of each month, cancel anytime before the 1st to end your class membership). Classes meet Monday evenings 6-8pm. Select your focus (handbuilding or wheel methods) from the dropdown menu.

Each quarter explores a shared theme. Groups typically meet by focus, with monthly combined technical classes. The syllabus is distributed at the first class meeting each month.

Practicum provides space for advanced students to ask questions and receive technical support specific to their pottery goals. Throughout the year, we offer instruction on studio procedures, practical ceramic knowledge seminars, conceptual discussions, and feature guest instructors on relevant topics. Studio staff will communicate weather or holiday closures via email with schedule adjustments as needed.

Q1 2025: Mugs and Surface Design . Practicum Members will explore technical aspects of mug design and surface decoration. One technical class will focus on formulating colored slips from scratch.

Studio Access: Members have access to studio wheels, glazes, and small equipment during open hours. Members must supply their own clay (available for purchase through Fifth Street Studio). Members cannot operate large equipment such as kilns or pug mills—studio technicians handle all kiln loading and clay pugging.

Member Access Hours: Tuesday–Sunday: 10am-8pm

Visit our FAQ for questions about Studio Membership. Members receive a welcome email one week before the session begins with additional details and access to the studio time sign-up sheet.
