In this frighteningly fun hand-building pottery workshop, you'll create a complete monster jar set featuring a 6-inch tall lidded pot, matching handmade scooping spoon, and all the ghoulish details that bring your creature to life.

Our expert pottery instructor will guide you through:

  • Building a lidded ceramic jar (approximately 6 inches tall)
  • Hand-forming a custom scooping spoon
  • Sculpting monster features: wings, claws, horns, and more
  • Adding personality with expressive faces and details
  • Underglaze decoration techniques for appendages
  • Choosing spooky glaze colors for scales, skin, fur, or feathers

 

No pottery experience required! This beginner-friendly ceramics class welcomes all skill levels. Open to ages 8+ all minors must be accompanied by an adult. All clay materials, sculpting tools, underglazes, and professional kiln firing included. Your handcrafted monster jar will be ready for pickup approximately two weeks after class.

Create bats, ghouls, cryptids, or your own original monster design! These charming ceramic guardians make excellent protectors of your favorite treats.

Workshop taught by Alex DerGazarian 

Alex DerGazarian is a multimedia sculptor and a native to Arkansas. She studied art at Hendrix College and moved to Fayetteville in 2020. She loves trying out new materials and experimenting with a wide range of ideas. Alex is often inspired by the ways simple elements can form complicated, organized, and beautiful designs–but then likes to introduce a bit of chaos into the mix. Her other projects include quilting, textile work, painting, cooking and baking, and finding new life in upcycled materials. 

*This workshop is open to ages 6+. Ages 6-13 must be accompanied by an adult *
